Counselling for Relationships and Family Dynamics
A confidential space to understand difficult relationships, family patterns and the experiences that shape how you connect with others.
When relationships become painful or confusing
Relationships can be a source of support and belonging, but they can also become places of conflict, distance, disappointment or uncertainty. You may feel unheard, misunderstood, responsible for keeping the peace, or caught in patterns that repeat despite your efforts to change them.
Difficult family dynamics can continue to affect us long after particular events have passed. Earlier experiences may shape how we respond to closeness, disagreement, criticism, boundaries and the fear of rejection or abandonment.
You may be experiencing
- Recurring conflict, misunderstandings or communication difficulties
- Difficult, controlling or emotionally damaging family dynamics
- Feeling unseen, unappreciated or unable to express your needs
- Guilt, resentment or difficulty setting healthy boundaries
- Emotional distance, withdrawal or loss of trust
- The lasting impact of childhood and family experiences
- Repeated relationship patterns that are difficult to understand or change
- Estrangement, separation, loss or a major change in an important relationship
Understanding the patterns beneath the difficulty
Counselling offers a confidential space to explore your relationships without judgement or pressure. Together, we can look at what is happening now, how earlier experiences may be influencing the present, and what you need in order to relate to others more openly and securely.
My approach is grounded in person-centred and psychodynamic principles. This means paying attention both to your present experience and to the patterns, expectations and emotional responses that may have developed over time.
A space focused on your experience
This is individual counselling focused on your experience of relationships and family life. The aim is not to blame other people or tell you whether to stay, leave, forgive or confront. It is to help you understand yourself more clearly, communicate more honestly, establish realistic boundaries and make choices that feel genuinely your own.
The first step can be a free 30-minute consultation, with no obligation to continue.
